Dermal fillers are FDA-approved injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smooth lines, and sculpt facial contours. Made from hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible substances, such as calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) (Sculptra®), fillers offer natural-looking results without surgery.
There are several different types of fillers. There are hyaluronic acid-based fillers (Restylane®, Juvederm®, and others). These are gel-like substances that can instantly restore the volume and create structures to enhance your features. Common treatment areas include cheekbones, jawline, and lips. They can also be used for facial balancing and subtle enhancements.Other fillers include Sculptra (PLLA) and Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite). These fillers have biostimulatory effects and can stimulate your own skin cells to produce collagen to restore the volume. Results are visible immediately, with full settling over 2 weeks as swelling subsides. Depending on the product and area treated, results typically last 4–15 months.
